Nothing is more exciting than jumping off a boat directly into the water.

Scuba diving off a boat can be somewhat intimidating specially if you are doing it for the first time. Scuba diving off a boat is the common practice when you are scuba diving in the Maldives, this way you get to different dive sites faster. Here are some things you should take note when on your first boat dive.

Here are some tips to remember when scuba diving off a boat.

Before you board the boat check all your equipment on the dock, cause once the boat has sailed you might have a hard time trying to get something that you might have forgotten at the dive shop. Your safety while scuba diving relies heavily on your equipment, so make sure that you have the right ones that work properly.

Don’t just dump your scuba diving equipment on the boat, put your stuff in a bag to avoid getting it mixed up with other diver’s equipment.

Put your scuba diving stuff under your seat, this prevents it from being stepped on. Weights should never be put on the seat because it easily falls off and might hit someone’s toe.

Dive buckets are provided by the crew in most dives, make sure you match the item to the rinse bucket, don’t wash your masks in a camera bucket unless you are trying to annoy someone.

Getting to the dive shop early gives you time to slowly but surely assemble your equipment, this gives you the chance to go over every scuba diving equipment you need.

Don’t take the dive brief for granted, you might have dove the same spot but there might be some conditions that were different from your previous dive.

While waiting for turn on the ladder after a dive, don’t hang under the ladder, you might risk someone falling on you.

Bring a dry bag for you to store any personal items that have to remain dry, you can also pack a dry towel to use after scuba diving.

Apply sunscreen, though scuba diving is a sport done underwater those rays will bounce of the water hitting you on the face, re-apply after each dive.
