Scuba diving compared to other sports is relatively safe. Scuba diving experts are continuously developing new processes and technology to make this recreational activity safer for everyone. Even if you are already an experienced scuba diver there are still certain precautions that have to be followed. Scuba diving entails a lot of focus underwater, so make sure to keep these tips in mind for safe dive.

Precautions that need to be followed when scuba diving.

  1. Make sure you have an agreed plan when scuba diving. Where to go, how air supply will be managed and what to do when something unexpected happens.
  2. Never dive alone, always dive with a buddy. There are unexpected things that might happen while scuba diving, like running out of air. Your buddy should help you in giving you air till you reach the surface.
  3. Diving in an unfamiliar waters is a no no for a beginner, scuba diving in calm warm waters is different from  scuba diving cold rough waters.
  4. Scuba diving in confined spaces and caves takes a more training, so make sure you do not dive outside your training and experience.
  5. Do not go scuba diving while impaired by fatigue or alcohol.
  6. Check the air you are going to breath, pass it through a white cloth and check for stains. Most dive centers would have certificates of air quality, check when was the last time they had this. Scuba diving with contaminated air is hazardous to your health.
