Doing some travelling this week and I am having e-mail problems. I know the e-mail is arriving but, due to technical difficulties, I cannot retrieve them. So I just wanted to mention that in case anyone has sent anything to me without getting a reply.

Regular updates will resume this weekend.

See that there’s a lot of traffic coming this way from the link on Consumerist.com & Lifehacker.com. Thank you to Ben Popken for the link.

For him, I’ve made sure that I’ve compiled all of the information on the Brooklyn Ikea development. There’s your yellow balloon.

Again, thanks to everyone who is coming through. I hope you enjoy what you see. Please check out the submission page to send us information to add to our database. I’ve gotten some great tips from readers so far and I hope that keeps up.

What is all of this?

You may be wondering, what exactly is all of this?

I have always had an interest in retail development and construction. I read newspapers and look at the local planning board minutes and agendas. I like to know what is being built in my area before they break ground. I have always shared this information with people and I’ve found that most people seem to like knowing this information, too.

So that is the basis for the site. I scour newspapers, planning board minutes, and whatever information I can get my hands on. I’m looking for new developments and future construction for the major retailers in the United States. Target, Wal-Mart, Kohl’s, JC Penney.. to name a few. Retailers that are rapidly expanding or developments that will have an impact on the local community, economically or politically, when they open (or when they propose to open).

I do hope people submit information and help me out with leads on new projects that I’ve missed.

My intention is not to be political. But I adknowledge that these new developments are highly politicized in many communities. That is why I encourage people to use this site to create a dialogue with their neighbors.

Please, let me know what you think.
